Judge Lisa L. Langford brings over two decades of public legal service to Jefferson County. As a graduate of the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, she began her career with the City of Louisville Law Department before joining the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, where she has served since 2003. That depth of experience — combined with her time on the bench — makes her uniquely prepared to deliver the sound, experienced judicial leadership Jefferson County deserves.

With 14 years as a Prosecutor with the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, Judge Langford knows firsthand what it takes to keep our community safe while ensuring justice is applied fairly. A safe community requires a court system that holds individuals accountable while also addressing the root causes of criminal behavior. She brings a balanced, evidence-based perspective to every case — holding people accountable while recognizing that rehabilitation, where appropriate, ultimately makes our community stronger.

Judge Langford is dedicated to managing her docket efficiently, ensuring cases move forward in a timely manner so that citizens are not left waiting months or years for resolution. Her background as an Assistant County Attorney gives her an insider’s understanding of court processes, and she is committed to using that knowledge to make Jefferson County’s District Court more accessible and responsive to every resident.

As a Louisville native and a product of Jefferson County Public Schools, Judge Langford has a personal connection to this community and approaches these sensitive cases with genuine care, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us, particularly children and victims of abuse.

Lisa L. Langford was born and raised in Louisville. She is a graduate of Jefferson County Public Schools and Kentucky universities. Her parents — a federal government worker and a JCPS teacher and counselor — instilled in her a lifelong dedication to God, family, and community. Judge Langford doesn’t just serve Jefferson County; she is Jefferson County. That deep personal investment in our community’s future is what drives her commitment to continue serving on the bench.
